Hypervisor

• A Hypervisor (also a Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM) is a specialized software that creates and runs virtual machines
• There are two kinds of Hypervisors:
  • Type 1 (bare-metal)
    • Run directly on host-hardware, reducing resource overhead and allowing hardware passthrough
  • Type 2
    • Runs within another operating system (such as Windows Server or desktop)
