Voice VLAN
- A Voice VLAN is a dedicated VLAN for voice-traffic
- Configuration
- An Access port on a Switch will be assigned its Data VLAN and its Voice VLAN
- At the client's desk, a VoIP Phone will be plugged in to the wall port, and the client's computer will be plugged into the phone
- The phone will function as a switch, tagging its own traffic for with the appropriate 802.1Q tag, and forward data traffic to and from the computer.
- The switch may be configured to strip the QoS/CoS flags from the phone, or to trust them
